How To Save Money Without Missing It

It's hard to put back money, it really is, we always want something new, even if we don't need it, we're tricked into thinking we actually do with the way it has been advertised, chances are if you don't already have it, you don't need it, where was I... OH yeah saving money without actually missing it.

This year I've started saving money for... well I'm not real sure, maybe a car, college, rainy day when I'm older, or maybe just a new pair of jeans, I honestly don't know, but I know at some point in my life a little money could come in handy.

I've saved up close to $150.00 this year, not a lot, I know. $47.10 is in change, silver change (quarters, dimes, nickels) and probably close to $4.00 in pennies, I haven't actually counted all the pennies, the other $98.00 are ones  and twenties, I find those the easiest to put back because I love to keep fives and tens in my purse.

Anywho, the point is I don't actually miss the money I've put up so far, by the end of this year I'll probably have a little over $200.00, again, for an entire year that's not a HUGE savings, it's pretty small, but I like it a lot better in my room in a jar than spent on something I really didn't need, but thought I wanted. new things get old really fast, next month there will always be something smaller, better, faster, and of course more convenient. so don't waste your cash (or change) on stuff you don't actually need.

By the time I'm 50 I'll probably have close to $10,000 saved up... seems pretty cool since I don't miss my change or random ones and twenties, it's not what I'd call a savings, because I don't consistently put up a certain amount, but it's nice to add this mini savings, to my actual savings.

Saving your spare change sure adds up, "literally".

Do you save your spare change?
I hope so!! :)

  1. You are a smart girl Molly. Go buy savings bonds or a CD-even though cd's aren't making a lot now, they will recover eventually. What I am saying is put it somewhere in a safe investment that will make money for you-and leave it alone.

  2. This is a great idea. I can do this. I need to try and put at least a dollar bill away now and then. You are so right, we don't miss the small change. Hugs, Marty

  3. Molly,
Very good plan to set back a little, your money pile will grow over time, and you're right. You don't even miss a little here and a little there.
Keep it up, you'll be so glad you did in time.
    Love you,
    Your Mama

  4. My husband keeps a large container in his closet for change. The last time we cashed it in, we had enough to buy tile to retile our bathroom plus buy a new toilet!
